Kvernufoss is a hidden waterfall near the larger cascade at Skógafoss. Though Skógafoss is more well-known, Kvernufoss is worth visiting. To access the falls, you need to find the trail that starts from behind the Skógasafn museum. You will follow the path along the river Kverna through a gorge until you reach the falls. The hike to Kvernufoss is relatively easy and takes only about 20 minutes. Kvernufoss is 30 m high (98 ft) and a bit similar to Seljalandsfoss. In fact, you can actually walk behind Kvernufoss in the summer months. We highly recommend this short hike to our guests; the beauty of the waterfall is worth the walk.
